axel Web Development erfahrungsbericht Erfahrungen
Axel wants to become a digital nomad - and that's why he decided on a boot camp as a web developer!

My most important questions and answers on the way to becoming a developer

Myth and the big questions: experience report at neue fische

My name is Axel, I am 32 years old and I am on the way to becoming a digital nomad. After a long period of preparation and self-study, I decided to take part in a boot camp at NEUE FISCHE. At this point I will share with you step by step how this came about, what experiences I had with new fish and what lessons I learned from it.
I think the promise of becoming a web developer in three months is a myth. But that is not wrong. Yes, you can become a junior developer in three months and go into a job straight after the bootcamp and continue learning. Today I'm writing to you in a slightly different form. I would like to share with you the three big questions that I asked myself. Of course, I will also write how I answered it for myself and I hope you can get something out of it for yourself.

Why should you learn programming at all?

1. If you're good at what you do, you can more or less choose your employer. The job prospects for developers are excellent. There are too few of us.

2. The salaries are good. This is due to the high demand.

3. You are independent of places. You can do many jobs remotely. You can do your job from anywhere. All you need is your laptop and your head.

4. You have a lot of creative freedom because the result counts. You go that way.

5. If you prefer to be on site, many companies offer you a good corporate culture with dynamic teams, flat hierarchies, freely assignable working hours, events, fruit and other goodies.

From self-taught programmer to web developer. My experiences in the neue fische bootcamp

1. I came across neue fische by chance and I liked the concept that they offer on www.neuefische.de. neue fische's curriculum is convincing.

2. You learn frontend development (frontend HTML), CSS, JavaScript, Bootstrap (CSS Framework) and React (JavaScript Framework) and in the backend server basics (Node.js), databases (noSQL, MongoDB), APIs) and much more . In my humble experience, that's all you need as a junior web developer to start your job.

3. It is the newest and hottest technologies that currently dominate the market. This is not just my personal opinion, but reflects the current trends that you can read about on Stackshare, Stackoverflow and various blog articles.

What finally convinced me about the neue fische bootcamp?

1. After the personal interview, I was more than convinced by the concept of NEUE FISCHE. My decision to take part in the boot camp was made quickly.

2. It turns out that Dalia Das, founder of neue fische, has analyzed many coding bootcamps in the USA. From this she brought the best mix with the latest technologies to Hamburg.

3. Dalia has a really good head coach in Jerry, who, after a nice conversation, showed me his skills from over ten years of experience as a web developer.

4. Before the boot camp there is an aptitude test. You will only be admitted if everyone involved agrees that you have what it takes.

5. Collaboration with corporate partners such as COYO, Otto, About You and others. From what I gathered, almost half of the graduates of the first boot camp had already signed employment contracts while the camp was still running.

6. new fish offers a great basis for networking. As a web developer, you should be in the scene and know or get to know the important players. Here I am given the opportunity to do so.

Next time I'll tell you about the first time in the new fische boot camp and more details about the experiences at neue fische.
